In that window, you can see and edit all of the metadata that already exists with the clip, and if you want, you can also add custom fields like camera angle, shot size, take number, or tons of other presets. If you want to view or edit the metadata of a clip, you can simply select the clip, go to the "Clip" menu, and select "Edit Metadata." Alternately, you can hit Command+2 to bring up the metadata screen. First of all, for how simple the program is, EditReady handles metadata extremely well, and offers enough flexibility to do just about anything that you might want to do with metadata from Quicktime files. Other than the speed and ease of use of EditReady, there are a few other things that set the program apart. The same cannot be said of Media Encoder, which seemingly turns the computer into a giant paperweight while the program is encoding. With that said, I felt like I could multitask with other programs while EditReady was encoding. Of course, that's just subjective observation as I wasn't measuring CPU or RAM usage during the encoding. Other than EditReady being faster than Media Encoder (and way more intuitive to use), it seemed to strain my computer less during the encoding process than did Media Encoder. However, I ran the clip through this test twice to make sure that the results were accurate, and sure enough, they were exactly the same the second time around. ![]() Obviously, this is an incredibly simple test, and it has its limitations in terms of really putting the performance of both softwares to the test. 54 Seconds for ProRes 422 HQ - Clip Size: 1.28GB.36 Seconds for ProRes 422 - Clip Size: 799MB.27 Seconds for ProRes 422 LT - Clip Size: 499MB.1 Minute, 7 Seconds for ProRes 422 HQ - Clip Size: 1.11GB.58 Seconds for ProRes 422 - Clip Size 784MB.50 Seconds for ProRes 422 LT - Clip Size: 432MB.Here are my results as I encoded the clip into 3 different flavors of ProRes in both EditReady and Media Encoder: The original clip was full HD, and the original file size was 274MB. I used a single 57 second h.264 clip shot on my Canon 60D to conduct my test. However, once I started using EditReady (and comparing it to Adobe Media Encoder, which is what I normally use for all of my encoding), what I found was pretty impressive. It's just that clean and intuitive.Ĭoming into the conversion process, I had been expecting all of my tests to be painfully slow because, frankly, the Macbook is on its last leg. My guess is that literally anybody could figure out how to use it simply by looking at the interface. With the exception of another basic window that lets you add and edit metadata that can be accessed through the menu or a keyboard shortcut, that's all there is to the EditReady interface, and quite frankly that's a great thing. It's broken down into two distinct sections: one for adding and previewing media, and the other for manipulating the conversion settings. The interface, which is incredibly easy on the eyes, takes functional minimalism to a new level entirely. I also talked briefly with Mike Woodworth, the CEO of Divergent Media, who's also the lead developer of EditReady, and learned more about how the software was designed, what it can and cannot do, and where it is headed in the future.īefore we get to my thoughts about EditReady and the interview with Mike, here's a brief video introduction to the software.īased on the time that I have spent using EditReady over the past month, there are a few things that I really love about the software, and a few things that could be better. However, after reading about what sets EditReady apart from its competitors, then testing the app for myself, I'm ready to say that the claim is indeed a valid one. In a market that is fairly saturated with transcoding solutions for filmmakers, that is definitely a bold claim, to say the least. Earlier in the summer, Divergent Media, a software company whose tools need no introduction in the video production world, released EditReady, a Mac transcoding app with a tremendous claim, that it was supposedly the world's fastest transcoder for Quicktime conversion. ![]() ![]() The parameters for acquiring FIESTA data for cranial nerves on 1.5/3.0 T MRI were the following: TR, 6.1/7.28 ms TE, 1.7/2.30 ms FOV, 180 mm flip angle, 65°/60° matrix, 512 × 256 acquiring slice thickness, 1 mm reconstructed slice thickness, 0.5 mm. It’s just twitchy enough to make if feel like a proper platform game, but not overly sensitive to the point that the moments where you have to glide through a litter of spikes is frustrating. The best thing about it is that the controls work. At the beginning it’s all about making the jumps and avoiding a few spikes, but by the end you are using every trick in your arsenal to stay alive. What’s great about Leo’s Fortune is that you feel as though you learn a slightly different idea as you progress. These are regular and loading is minimal, which is important. One later chapter sees our impressively mustachioed hero traverse a land full of high winds, which is made trickier by plenty of spiky objects in his way, whereas another will see him go through a machine that is littered with awkward jumps that you can only make if you force a plank to lean, giving a higher point to leap from.īut Leo isn’t invincible, and one hit will see you restart at a checkpoint. The levels are highly linear, but offer unique puzzles contextual to the environment. Likewise, squishing into a ball can force Leo downwards at high velocity, or it can help him squeeze through a gap that would be otherwise blocked. Puffing Leo up doubles as a jump button, but when held down he also hover across larger gaps. This is thanks to the simplicity of the controls: Leo can move forward and backwards (left and right arrow), and can inflate or push himself downward, and that’s it. I found the initial control method rather awkward, as it involved swiping up or down to jump/deflate, and sliding left/right to move. But before you go running, know that it works for the entirety of the twenty levels (plus four bonus levels), especially when selecting the on-screen touch controls option. It’s a side-scrolling platformer on iOS, by the way. It’s the voiceover that sells it so well, though, and even on the odd occasion that Leo mutters something during the gameplay, it helps add to the overall character of Leo’s Fortune. ![]() Told through black and white cut-scenes that appear every few levels, Leopold’s story is a pleasant one that threatens to go dark a few times, but ultimately culminates in a very palatable, feel-good manner. As he sets out on a mission to recover it, the story tries to tell the tale of what is truly important in life, but not before he accuses his nearest and dearest of thievery. Regardless, Leo is of Russian origin and is a rich furball who has suddenly lost all of his gold. I mean, he’s clearly some kind of furball, but he has a moustache, which throws everything into question, quite frankly. ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll be following it up with the Tier 2 and Tier 3 adventures. In any event, Elixir of Immortality is a totally legit option for this function and all things considered is probably the most powerful "generic" effect of this type outside of green or blue. This review is for the Tier 1 adventures. (Elixir is also an artifact but it doesn't hit the 'yard, so it doesn't work with her!) For example in my ] deck, even though I have access to all the green reshuffle effects, I actually use Reito Lantern because Glissa can loop it since it's an artifact. There are lots of reasons to choose any one of these over another. Other good options are the Eldrazi, as others have noted, ], which is slow but benefits from creature synergies, and ], which doubles as a punisher effect. Seemingly more powerful options like Feldon's Cane and ] don't work reliably since they self-exile. Elixir of Immortality is one of the best options. If you're in black or red, or black-red, and in some cases white, you're going to need to look to a colorless card to do the job. Green has a few cards like ] and ], but it also has in my view the strongest card of this type: ]. White has ], which is shockingly useful given that it only takes up a land slot and is unlikely to ever get blown up. In my view, every EDH Deck needs a way to refill the deck so you don't run out of options if the game goes long.īlue has ], ], and ], and other similar cards. Like consider the fact that people are happy to play cards like ] and put cards back in their opponents' libraries just to keep them from having access to them in the GY. Libraries matter a lot less than you think. So in general just be very wary of things that don't affect the board or hands. You need to just start accepting that if you are going to draw 20 cards in a given game, it doesn't matter which 20 they are. To some people, I feel like they would actually feel like they lost something if that happened. One thing you might want to try doing is at the end of every game, look at the bottom 10 cards of your library and imagine they had actually started the game on top, but your opponent cast a spell that put them on the bottom. But barring certain effects, there's really no difference between your opponent taking cards off the top of your library as from the bottom. Like one thing I've often observed with newer players is they get really affected by having their library milled from, because they look at the cards and feel like they're being taken away. It sucks feeling like your cards are gone forever when you use them, but elixir lets you say "it isn't forever, I could see them again!". I feel like this card, and cards like it, often serve as a "security blanket" to newer players. Other cards that do the same thing exile themselves, or at least, don't shuffle back in too. ![]() But they are quite expensive and may require additional setup that would make the elixir preferable. The original Eldrazi Titans like ] sort of do if you only want the GY shuffle part, you just need a way to discard them. There are absolutely use cases for this card, and I can't think of a better version that does exactly the same thing but better. r/magicTCG is not produced, endorsed, supported by, or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
